Course Entry Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Completed Year 10 or Equivalent.
  • Access to a computer, laptop or tablet.
  • Internet access and email address.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in English.
  • Access to dogs for training.
  • Physically capable of restraining animals, handling animal feed and standing for extended periods of time.

Practical Training

The practical training (hands-on) is completed at the Dog Training Facility under the guidance and support of the course provider’s teachers and dog trainers for 2-weeks full time. This ensures the student is taught the hands-on skills required to become a qualified dog trainer while being guided by the team.

During the practical training, students have access to a range of dogs to work with and can practice and perfect their skills in a safe environment. Students will develop a broad array of hands-on skills pivotal for training including teaching the foundation skills and also dealing with aggressive dogs. They will learn about conditioning dogs, behaviour shaping, lifestyle obedience and positive reinforcement. Finally, the students will then be taught how to create both individual and group lessons whilst assessing the needs of the dogs and the owners.
