Get Course (getcourse.com.au) is a course comparison and enquiry platform operated by Webwise Pty Ltd ("Get Course", "we", "us"). We are committed to protecting personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy describes how we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information, and the measures we take to keep it secure. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions as a comparison and enquiry service. This includes identity information (name, email address, phone number), enquiry data (course interests, subject preferences, enquiry submissions), and technical data (IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, search queries). We do not collect payment information; all course payments are handled directly by education providers.
We collect personal information directly from you when you submit a course enquiry, use our comparison tools, contact us, or browse our platform. We may also collect information automatically through cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies as described in our Cookies Policy. We do not collect personal information from third parties unless you have consented to that collection.
We collect and use personal information for the following purposes: forwarding your enquiry to the relevant education provider, sending you information related to your course interest, responding to your questions and support requests, improving our comparison platform and search results, measuring advertising effectiveness, meeting our legal and regulatory obligations, and preventing fraud and maintaining platform security.
When you submit an enquiry, we share your contact details and course interest with the relevant education provider so they can contact you. Once shared, the provider is responsible for your data under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the provider's privacy practices before enrolling.
Under the APPs, we process personal information where it is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities, where you have consented to the collection and use, where required or authorised by law, or where necessary to prevent a serious threat to life, health, or safety.
Personal information is stored on secure, access-controlled servers. Our primary data infrastructure is hosted in Australia (Sydney region). We implement technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, role-based access controls for staff and systems, regular review of access permissions, and secure authentication mechanisms. Despite these measures, no method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your information to the highest practicable standard.
We engage third-party service providers to support our operations, including email and SMS delivery, cloud hosting and data storage, analytics and advertising measurement, and CRM systems. We only share the minimum personal information necessary for each provider to perform its function. Outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure they comply with obligations substantially similar to the APPs, as required by APP 8.
We retain personal information for as long as it is needed to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Enquiry records are retained for a reasonable period to support follow-up and reporting. You may request deletion of your personal information at any time, subject to our legal obligations.
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal obligations), withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time, and lodge a complaint about how we handle your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@getcourse.com.au. We will respond to access and correction requests within 30 days.
In the event of an eligible data breach under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme (Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988), we will notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and affected individuals as soon as practicable, in accordance with our legal obligations.
Get Course is designed for adults seeking professional development and career education. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a minor, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
For data protection enquiries or to exercise your rights, email hello@getcourse.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
