Language, literacy & numeracy (LLN) assessment may apply

IELTS band score of 6.0 or equivalent internationally recognised exam result in line with DHA regulations, OR satisfactory completion of an ELICOS program at advanced level from Explore English or other English Australia member, OR certificate of completion equivalent to or higher than Australian Year 11 from an English-speaking country, OR completion of MCIE's English Placement Test with overall score equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above. TOEFL and OET also considered.

Work Placement Arranged by MCIE

MCIE will organise your work placement with one of their hospitality host employers. 48 mandatory service periods required.

Uniform and Equipment Kit Included

Non-tuition fee includes a full uniform kit (chef coat, trousers, hat, neckerchief, aprons, safety boots) and a complete knife and kitchen tools set, plus a knife carry case.

Blended Training Delivery

Program is delivered through a blend of face-to-face classes on MCIE campus and commercial training kitchens with online learning for a total of 20 hours per week.

Online Learning Management System

Most assessments are delivered online via aXcelerate LMS. Students can communicate with trainers via email, student portal and the LMS.

Nationally Recognised Qualification

This is Nationally Recognised Training leading to an Australian Qualification that complies with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Fully Equipped Commercial Training Kitchen

Practical classes held at MCIE Peel Street Kitchen, a fully equipped commercial training kitchen at 112 Peel Street, North Melbourne, VIC 3051.
