SFI10119 is the nationally recognised Certificate I in Seafood Industry. It prepares you for work as a seafood process worker. It has been the current version on the national register since 2019, when it replaced SFI10511 and SFI10211 and SFI10111. Employers posted about 65 seafood process worker jobs in June 2026, up 5.4% on a year earlier.
The signals behind this qualification are mixed, and both sides are worth weighing. Specifically: national enrolments are rising and employment in its occupations is projected to decline. These are official statistics, not a promise about any individual's result.
Employers are advertising more of these roles than a year ago. Across Seafood Process Worker, about 65 jobs were advertised online in June 2026 (up 5.4% on a year earlier). Roughly 824 openings were advertised over the last 12 months, while 50 people enrolled in the qualification nationally in 2024. Enrolment counts people in training, not completions, so the two figures describe the pipeline and the market, not a job guarantee.
Employment in these occupations is projected to decline. That matters more than any marketing claim. Government projections put them at 13,600 workers in May 2025, 13,000 by May 2030 (down 4.5%) and 13,300 by May 2035 (down 2%).
More people are choosing this qualification each year. National enrolments rose from 35 in 2023, to 50 in 2024 (up 42.9%).
