TLI31222 is the nationally recognised Certificate III behind truck driver (general) work. It has been the current version on the national register since 2022, when it replaced TLI31221. About 2,675 truck driver (general) jobs were advertised in June 2026, up 1.8% on a year earlier.

Employer demand for these roles is holding steady. Across Truck Driver (General), about 2,675 jobs were advertised online in June 2026 (up 1.8% on a year earlier). Roughly 33,382 openings were advertised over the last 12 months, while 11,190 people enrolled in the qualification nationally in 2024. Enrolment counts people in training, not completions, so the two figures describe the pipeline and the market, not a job guarantee.
At least one occupation this qualification leads to is officially rated as in national shortage. In the 2025 Occupation Shortage List assessment, Truck Driver (General) is rated in national shortage; Aircraft Refueller, Furniture Removalist, Tanker Driver and Tow Truck Driver are rated not in shortage.
Employment in these occupations is projected to stay about flat. Government projections put them at 189,200 workers in May 2025, 190,400 by May 2030 (up 0.6%) and 196,900 by May 2035 (up 4%).
Outcomes for this qualification are mixed against others at Certificate III level. In the latest national outcomes survey (2025), 88.9% were employed or in further study after training, against a Certificate III median of 88% across 105 qualifications. Median income after training was $67,700, compared with $54,000 typical at this level. 87.5% were satisfied with the training, against 90.6% typical.
Enrolments in this qualification are growing. National enrolments rose from 9,370 in 2023, to 11,190 in 2024 (up 19.4%).
