SIT30222 is the nationally recognised Certificate III behind travel consultant work. It has been the current version on the national register since 2022, when it replaced SIT30216. About 249 travel consultant jobs were advertised in June 2026, down 22.1% on a year earlier.

Specifically: its main occupation is rated in national shortage, employment in its occupations is projected to grow through 2035 and national enrolments are rising. Employers are advertising fewer of these roles than a year ago. Across Travel Consultant, about 249 jobs were advertised online in June 2026 (down 22.1% on a year earlier). Roughly 3,736 openings were advertised over the last 12 months, while 2,010 people enrolled in the qualification nationally in 2024. Enrolment counts people in training, not completions, so the two figures describe the pipeline and the market, not a job guarantee.
At least one occupation this qualification leads to is officially rated as in national shortage. In the 2025 Occupation Shortage List assessment, Travel Consultant is rated in national shortage; Tourist Information Officer is rated not in shortage.
Employment in these occupations is projected to grow. Government projections put them at 21,900 workers in May 2025, 22,700 by May 2030 (up 3.4%) and 24,000 by May 2035 (up 9.3%).
Outcomes for this qualification are mixed against others at Certificate III level. In the latest national outcomes survey (2025), 91.2% were employed or in further study after training, against a Certificate III median of 88% across 105 qualifications. Median income after training was $47,400, compared with $54,000 typical at this level. 77.7% were satisfied with the training, against 90.6% typical.
More people are choosing this qualification each year. National enrolments rose from 1,475 in 2023, to 2,010 in 2024 (up 36.3%).
