SIS20122 is the nationally recognised Certificate II in Sport and Recreation. It prepares you for work as a general clerk. It has been the current version on the national register since 2022, when it replaced SIS20115. Employers posted about 9,081 general clerk jobs in June 2026, down 8.5% on a year earlier.
The signals behind this qualification are mixed, and both sides are worth weighing. Specifically: employment in its occupations is projected to grow through 2035, national enrolments are rising and the official shortage list does not rate its occupations in shortage. These are official statistics, not a promise about any individual's result.
Employers are advertising fewer of these roles than a year ago. Across General Clerk, about 9,081 jobs were advertised online in June 2026 (down 8.5% on a year earlier). Roughly 115,808 openings were advertised over the last 12 months, while 9,985 people enrolled in the qualification nationally in 2024. Enrolment counts people in training, not completions, so the two figures describe the pipeline and the market, not a job guarantee.
None of the occupations this qualification leads to is rated as in shortage on the official list. In the 2025 Occupation Shortage List assessment, General Clerk is rated not in shortage.
Employment in these occupations is projected to keep growing strongly. Government projections put them at 297,900 workers in May 2025, 331,600 by May 2030 (up 11.3%) and 354,500 by May 2035 (up 19%).
Outcomes for this qualification are mixed against others at Certificate II level. In the latest national outcomes survey (2025), 79.4% were employed or in further study after training, against a Certificate II median of 77.6% across 63 qualifications. Median income after training was $37,800, compared with $41,400 typical at this level. 94.1% were satisfied with the training, against 91.4% typical.
More people are choosing this qualification each year. National enrolments rose from 285 in 2023, the first year it appears in national data, to 9,985 in 2024 (up 3403.5%).
