CPP40121 is the nationally recognised Certificate IV behind architectural draftsperson work. It has been the current version on the national register since 2021, when it replaced CPP40115. About 2,193 architectural draftsperson jobs were advertised in June 2026, up 10.4% on a year earlier.

Specifically: its main occupation is rated in national shortage, employment in its occupations is projected to grow through 2035 and national enrolments are rising. Employers are advertising more of these roles than a year ago. Across Architectural Draftsperson, about 2,193 jobs were advertised online in June 2026 (up 10.4% on a year earlier). Roughly 24,955 openings were advertised over the last 12 months, while 2,925 people enrolled in the qualification nationally in 2024. Enrolment counts people in training, not completions, so the two figures describe the pipeline and the market, not a job guarantee.
At least one occupation this qualification leads to is officially rated as in national shortage. In the 2025 Occupation Shortage List assessment, Building Inspector and Surveying or Spatial Science Technician are rated in national shortage; Construction Estimator is rated in shortage in regional areas; Architectural Draftsperson, Building Associate, Plumbing Inspector and Architectural, Building and Surveying Technicians nec are rated not in shortage.
Employment in these occupations is projected to grow. Government projections put them at 84,200 workers in May 2025, 91,200 by May 2030 (up 8.3%) and 96,100 by May 2035 (up 14.2%).
People who complete this qualification tend to do better than is typical for a Certificate IV. In the latest national outcomes survey (2025), 88.4% were employed or in further study after training, against a Certificate IV median of 89.9% across 71 qualifications. Median income after training was $62,800, compared with $63,400 typical at this level. 90% were satisfied with the training, against 87.8% typical.
Enrolments in this qualification are growing. National enrolments rose from 2,745 in 2023, to 2,925 in 2024 (up 6.6%).
