Theory Done Before You Arrive
You finish about 4.5 hours of online theory at your own pace. The classroom time is then spent practising.

The CPR demonstration is done on the ground with first aid manikins, the way you would do it for real.

What Makes It Different

You cover the body basics for children and infants when checking the heart and breathing. A baby is not a small adult, and the technique changes.

How is this different from the normal first aid course?
This one is for infants and children in a care setting. The general workplace first aid course is a separate unit with its own code.
What do I have to do before the class?
Finish the self-paced online theory, around 4.5 hours, and score 100% on all three online assessments. You cannot attend without that.
What does it cost?
$135 for the course.
How long is the classroom part?
5 hours in the classroom. With the online theory, the whole course is about 1.5 days.
Does this count toward regulatory requirements?
It may count towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National regulations. Check what your own service and regulator require.
What if I am worried about the CPR demonstration?
Tell the college before the day. Students who are unsure about the CPR practical get support. It is better raised early than on the day.
Do I need a USI?
Yes. A Unique Student Identifier is required for anyone doing vocational training. The government provides it at no cost.
What do I get at the end?
A Statement of Attainment for HLTAID012. That is a nationally recognised unit, not a full qualification.
