What Makes It Different

CPR is not the same on a baby as on an adult. All three are covered. So is an unconscious or unresponsive person.
You learn the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator, on real training equipment.
The course follows Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines for CPR.

How to Get Started
Common Questions
Do I need any experience?
None. There are no prerequisites. You do need to be able to do uninterrupted CPR for two minutes on a manikin placed on the floor.
How long does it take?
3.5 hours, in a single session. There is no online component to finish first.
What does it cost?
$60 for the course.
How long is it valid?
It is valid for 12 months. Renew each year so your skills stay current.
What do I get at the end?
A Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009, if you are assessed as competent. That is a nationally recognised unit, not a full qualification.
Is this the same as a first aid certificate?
It is not. This course is CPR only. A full first aid certificate is a separate, longer course, and it includes CPR inside it.
Do I need a USI?
Yes. A Unique Student Identification number is required. You can apply online, or authorise the college's admin staff to apply for you.
How is it assessed?
By practical performance and a short quiz. Both are done in the session.

This course is delivered by Melbourne City Institute of Education, a registered training organisation, RTO 22172.
Classes are held at the college's Collins Street campus. The college also teaches health, community services, aged care, early childhood, hospitality and English language teaching.
