What Makes It Different

Do I need experience to start?
None. There are no prerequisite qualifications. You do a Pre-Training Review and a reading, writing and maths check so the college can confirm the course suits you.
What does it cost each week?
From $51.28 a week on the payment plan. You can also pay monthly, or pay upfront at a discounted rate. A $250 administrative fee applies for placement coordination support.
How does the work placement work?
100 mandated hours in a registered school in Australia, spread across 19 weeks. It is attached to the unit on assisting student learning.
Can I do this online?
Yes, the study part. Content is available any time through the learning system, and workshops run online with a trainer. Placement is done in person in a school.
What checks will I need?
A Working With Children Check or your state or territory equivalent. You may also be asked for a National Police Check and immunisation evidence such as influenza. Start early.
Does this make me a teacher?
It does not. Teaching is a university degree. This qualifies you to work beside teachers as an aide. That is its own job, and a common way into schools.
Is this a real qualification?
Yes. CHC40225 is Nationally Recognised Training under the Australian Qualifications Framework. The college is registered to deliver and assess it. We check both on the national training register.
What is expected of me on placement?
You need to speak and write clearly in English with teachers, students and school staff. You also need to behave professionally in a school. Those are inherent requirements of the course.
