About This Course

What This Course Is Really About

This course covers the core skills needed to plan, deliver, and assess English language lessons. Students learn practical teaching methods, classroom management, and how to support diverse learners, including those from non-English-speaking backgrounds.

Delivered by Melbourne City Institute of Education, the course runs over 26 weeks (plus a 4-week summer break) in a blended format. That means a mix of online study and scheduled learning activities, so a baseline of digital literacy is needed to engage with the learning management system and communicate with trainers.

The course includes 12 hours of work placement, giving students real classroom experience before they graduate. It suits career changers, recent graduates, and anyone who wants to teach English in Australia or overseas.
