Do I need this qualification to work in childcare?
Yes. To work in the sector you must hold an approved Certificate III level qualification, or be working towards one. This is that qualification, so you can start work while you study.
Do I need experience to start?
None. There are no prerequisite qualifications. You do a Pre-Training Review and a reading, writing and maths check. That confirms the course suits you.
What does it cost each week?
From $62.82 a week on the payment plan. You can also pay monthly, pay upfront, or use Zip Money subject to approval. Eligible students may get access to government-funded options. That is worked out during enrolment.
How does the work placement work?
160 mandatory hours in a long day care service. The service needs a proper range of work tasks and the right ratios of children. Your supervisor must hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
How long do I have to finish?
The course runs over 52 weeks and is delivered across 12 months. You have up to 18 months to complete it if you need the extra time.
What checks will I need?
A Working with Children Check. You may also be asked for a National Police Check, mandatory child safety training due by 27 August 2026, and flu and COVID-19 vaccination evidence. Start them early.
