Thinking about work that helps people at risk at home? You'll learn to spot the signs, act in a crisis and help others stay calm. Study it online around your week, with Zoom role plays you book ahead.
If you're a case worker, support worker, or on reception or intake, family violence turns up in your day. You'll learn to see the signs, respond safely and refer to the right service.
Maybe you want to move into family violence or family support work and need a first step. No sector experience is needed, and the four units carry into bigger courses.
Most of the course is self-paced online, at around 14 to 16 hours a week. The Zoom role plays are 90 minutes, booked in advance, with several times offered weekly.
Four units: family violence, crisis response, responsible behaviour and clear communication.
Three things set this short course apart: a unit on calmer behaviour, ten role plays, and units that count later.
One unit covers how to support responsible behaviour in the people you work with. It's a skill for the job, not a personal anger program, and it won't meet a court direction.
You'll complete ten assessed role plays. Three are assessor-led over Zoom in groups of two or three, and seven are shorter ones you record yourself. By the end, a hard talk will feel practised.
The units can be credited toward the CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services and the CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling. If you've done the Mental Health, Counselling or Crisis Intervention short course, one unit is already behind you.
Statement of Attainment · 4 nationally recognised units
On completion, you receive a Statement of Attainment listing the four units. It's a formal VET credential, not a full qualification.
The units can be credited toward the CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services and the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health.
They also count toward the CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling, where crisis response is a core unit.

You don't need sector experience or prior study. You'll need to be 18 or over with study rights here. You'll do a short skills check in reading, writing, maths and digital skills, then a pre-training call. There's no police check, since there's no placement.
About three months, at 14 to 16 hours a week. Most of the study is self-paced online, with the Zoom role plays booked in advance.
Through written tasks, case studies and practical activities, plus ten assessed role plays. Three are assessor-led over Zoom in small groups, and seven are shorter ones you record and submit through the portal. There are no exams.
This course is not government funded. You pay the college directly, weekly or fortnightly interest-free, or upfront. Employers can also pay directly and enrol several staff at once.
It's a course for people who support others, so the anger management unit is about helping the people you work with. It's not a personal program and not a court-recognised program, so it won't meet a court direction. If the topics are close to home, talk to a course advisor first.
You may be able to. Identical units completed at another RTO can be credit-transferred with your AQF documents or VET transcript. If you've done the Mental Health, Counselling or Crisis Intervention short course, one unit is already done, so say so at your pre-training call.
You'll finish with four nationally recognised units and a Statement of Attainment, a formal VET credential rather than a full qualification. The units count toward the CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services, so it's a first step rather than the whole road.
