If you're in HR now and want the advisor or partner roles, this diploma is the next step. You'll learn to run hiring, staff reviews and workforce plans. Study from home, with one live class a week, round a full-time job.
If you're an HR officer or coordinator, this is the diploma the advisor, consultant and business partner jobs ask for. You'll learn to manage staff relations, workforce plans and business risk, not just support them.
Maybe you've never held the HR title but you've done the work for years. Two years in a relevant job, full time, can meet the entry rule instead of the four Certificate IV units, so your record counts.
One live Zoom class a week, then about 15 hours of self-paced study and around 8 hours of assessment. The year runs as 48 weeks of classes with a 4-week break.
These skills are wanted wherever a business has grown past the point where the owner can manage every person. The work is easy to picture: advising managers on a tricky staff issue, planning next year's hires, and shaping the policies people work under.
Advise managers on staff matters and policy. Pay of about $92,000.
Work across businesses on HR projects and change. Pay of about $97,000.
Sit beside the leaders of a business unit and plan its people. Pay of about $118,000.
Lead the HR function for a business or a site.
Roles where these skills are useful, not promised outcomes. Every role is different, and some need more study or experience. Pay figures are indicative only, from SEEK, October 2026, and are not a guarantee of earnings.
Seven core units and five electives, covering people, performance, policy and risk.
Three things set this diploma apart: policy and risk in the core units, a clear entry rule, and trainers who stay close.
Managing business risk and developing organisational policy sit in the units alongside hiring and performance. That means you'll be ready for the meetings where the decisions get made, not only the ones where they get carried out.
Entry needs the four Certificate IV units, or two years' full-time experience in the field. If you don't have either yet, the BSB40420 Certificate IV in Human Resource Management covers all four entry units.
A live Zoom class with your trainer every week, one-on-one mentoring once a month, and replies within 72 hours on business days. Learner support also calls each month.
