Thinking about helping people work through their goals? This pathway builds up from psychology and counselling into coaching practice. This is the right fit if you are starting fresh.
Coaching goes better when you understand behaviour first. Early modules cover development, personality, motivation and stress.
Listening, questioning, reflection and interview technique are taught as skills you practise. You also cover how to close a relationship well.
Coaching modules cover goal setting, models, vision and values. You also learn to run sessions well. These are the weekly tools.
Coaching sits outside the regulated professions. People come to it from all sorts of work. Most build slowly, taking clients beside another job.
Works with clients on goals, habits and next steps.
Focuses on confidence, direction and personal change.
Runs sessions for small groups rather than one to one.
Keeps a coaching programme and its clients organised.
Starts a small practice and builds a client base.
Roles are examples of where these skills are used, not promised outcomes. Registration as a psychologist, counsellor or therapist does not follow.
This is a pathway, not a single course. Seven certificates stack in order, psychology through to coaching.
Around four hundred hours takes you well past the basics. You cover crisis work, grief, depression and conflict. Goal setting is only one part.
You work through psychoanalytic, humanistic and behavioural approaches. Solution focused and cognitive behavioural methods follow. It gives your coaching a base.
Confidentiality, supervision and referral practice get their own certificate. Knowing when to hand someone on is part of the job.
