Module 1: Human Nutrition I
Improve your own health and help others by learning the basic science of food and nutrition. This module is a great starting point for anyone wanting to learn more about the field of nutrition, as well as offering complementary skills to those already working in the food and health industries.
You will learn about different food types and how they impact human health, including delving deeper into vitamins and minerals and the daily intake requirements of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. You will also explore the importance of water and why this is so vital to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As well as being able to identify the signs and symptoms of major nutrient deficient disorders.
Module 2: Human Nutrition II
In this module, you will learn what is required to create a balanced and healthy diet and assess the nutritional needs of special groups. It will deliver professional development for budding or current health professionals and will deepen your knowledge in nutrition so you can share this information with potential clients.
Based on science, the module also offers practical skills. Exploring nutrient intake in more detail (after competition of Human Nutrition I), you will learn about the various food processing techniques and their implications for human health. You will also gain a better understanding of the minimum and maximum safe intake for macronutrients and minerals and more significant vitamins, including fat-soluble, B and C complex vitamins, calcium and iron.
Module 3: Health and Wellbeing
A perfect foundation module, it delivers an introduction to health and wellbeing more broadly, looking at everything from fitness, nutrition, stress management, preventative health and first aid.
You will learn that every aspect of our lives can impact our health and well-being. Explore what can change the balance required to maintain wellbeing, such as gender, age, level of fitness and lifestyle choices. The module also looks at the effects of alcohol abuse, the principle of food combining and natural therapies that can support a healthy lifestyle. You will gain a better understanding of food allergies, how to identify them and different ways to manage them in day-to-day life. You will also be given the opportunity to interview others to learn about their health and fitness, how to assess their lifestyle and ways to improve it. Integrating insights from Life Coaching Courses can further enhance your ability to guide and support individuals towards achieving optimal health and well-being.
Module 4: Human Nutrition III
This module delves into the intricate relationship between nutrient imbalance and various health issues. This comprehensive module provides students with an in-depth understanding of how dietary choices can lead to conditions like dental problems and diseases of the bowel. Emphasising the importance of balance in diet, the course explores the impact of different eating styles and how they affect overall health. It also covers critical topics such as fibre's role in maintaining bowel health and the risks associated with food toxicities and poisoning, equipping students with the knowledge to identify and address these issues effectively.
Furthermore, the module offers a practical approach to detoxification and body cleansing, shedding light on popular practices and their scientific validity. Students will learn the essentials of consulting and giving sound dietary advice, enabling them to guide clients towards healthier eating habits. This module is not only a step forward in professional development for aspiring or current health professionals but also a valuable resource for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of nutrition and its impact on health and wellbeing.
Module 5: Therapeutic Nutrition
The Therapeutic Nutrition module provides a focused exploration into diet as a tool for managing medical conditions. This module introduces therapeutic nutrition and its role in addressing allergies, intolerances, diabetes, heart diseases like hyperlipidemia and arteriosclerosis, renal conditions and cancer. Students will learn about the dietary needs and management strategies for these conditions, gaining practical insights into how nutrition influences treatment and recovery.
It also covers nutritional approaches for digestive disorders affecting various parts of the gastrointestinal tract and other metabolic conditions such as liver, gallbladder and pancreatic health. A key component of this module is strategic diet planning for specific medical conditions, equipping students with the skills to create effective, individualised dietary plans.
You’ll be fully supported with access to an allocated student support advisor, mentor and course consultants, who are available 5 days per week.
Assessments are an important part of your study journey as they help ensure you stay on track and meet the learning objectives of each lesson before moving on to the next. They also help your student support advisor and mentors identify where any further support may be required so that you get the most out of your course. You will learn via various methods; a combination of reading, undertaking research and watching videos. Assessments might include case studies, quizzes, and written assessments.
Upon completing the course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for each certificate completed and a Certificate of Completion.
