Learn from experts with decades of experience in self sufficiency including different ways to preserve foods from drying and bottling to making preserves and freezing and also how to produce sustainable food from animals such as eggs and milk. This module will teach you how to grow food from home sustainably.
Module 2: Home Garden Expert Course AHT101
This course, part of our extensive Farming Courses offerings, covers the essentials of gardening to take your home garden to the next level while teaching you more experienced horticulture methods to complement the vegetable, fruit, grain, and herb growing skills learnt from the self-sufficiency module.
If you haven't studied a broad horticulture course before; there will no doubt be gaps in your knowledge and skills that will be holding you back from your full potential. This course will expand your awareness of what is possible, and help you to make better judgments about what are appropriate goals for you to achieve in your home garden for food production.
This course is a beginner-level course and will lay a sound foundation of knowledge and skills that can grow with experience and further study. Food production and farming is a competitive field, and this course will help you develop and strengthen your skills and knowledge to become more successful in sustainable food gardening or a similar role and ensure you stand out from the competitors. Understanding the basics of the self-sufficiency processes for food production while understanding home gardening to produce organic and sustainable food are broad skills that can be useful and implemented in several agriculture, horticulture or farming roles.
You’ll be fully supported with access to an allocated student support advisor, mentor and course consultants, who are available 5 days per week.
Assessments are an important part of your study journey as they help ensure you stay on track and meet the learning objectives of each lesson before moving onto the next. They also help your student support advisor and mentors identify where any further support may be required, so that you get the most out of your course.
You will learn via various methods; a combination of reading, undertaking research and watching videos. Assessments might include case studies, quizzes, and written assessments. There are no in-person exams.
Upon completing the course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for each certificate completed and a Certificate of Completion.
