This course is aimed at people interested in working in:
Module 1: Disability Support BPS226
This course aims to broaden and deepen your appreciation of the diversity of disabilities that exist, and to have a better capacity to respond to and support challenges faced by any disabled person. Disabilities can be physical, sensory, developmental, cognitive, intellectual, or mental. They may also be a combination of any of these types. This course explores the scope and nature of disability and disabled support to help individuals better respond to issues faced by persons living with a disability, whatever the disability might be.
Module 2: Professional Supervision BPS301
This course is essential training for anyone working in helping professions, nursing, aged care and disabilities, counselling, teaching and those that work in business. Whilst it leans towards the health and caring professions, this course is relatively generic in nature and is applicable to a wide range of careers. Students learn about different models of supervision, their pros and cons, and their relevance to different types of workplace scenarios. It is of value as much to people offering supervision as to those undertaking it, and given that we each benefit from supervision regardless of our station, the course may be of value to most people.
This course is a beginner-level course and will lay a sound foundation of knowledge and skills that can grow with experience and further study. Health and social services is a competitive field, and this course will help you develop and strengthen your skills and knowledge to become more successful in disability support or a similar role and ensure you stand out from the competitors. Understanding the basics of what makes an effective disability support process while understanding professional supervision when caring for disabled patients are broad skills that can be useful and implemented in several disability support roles.
You’ll be fully supported with access to an allocated student support advisor, mentor and course consultants, who are available 5 days per week.
Assessments are an important part of your study journey as they help ensure you stay on track and meet the learning objectives of each lesson before moving on to the next. They also help your student support advisor and mentors identify where any further support may be required so that you get the most out of your course. You will learn via various methods; a combination of reading, undertaking research and watching videos. Assessments might include case studies, quizzes, and written assessments.
Upon completing the course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for each certificate completed and a Certificate of Completion.
