Module 1: Animal Health Care

Module 2: Wildlife Conservation
In this module, you will learn how to conduct flora and fauna surveys, learn about wildlife conservation theory, habitat rehabilitation and threatened species recovery. Gain knowledge about the different ways you can conserve wildlife, including the impact habitat use and fragmentation can have, and learn a variety of survey techniques to be used to better understand wildlife, flora, vegetation and marine life.
Module 3: Animal Welfare
Gain a thorough understanding of how to manage animal welfare effectively, covering topics such as animal protection services, animal rescue and health services. This module also extends to exploring animal welfare considerations across various contexts, including pets, work animals, animals in sport, farm animals, and wildlife in both free and captive environments. Module 4: Wildlife Management
Designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective wildlife conservation and management, this module covers various critical topics, including wildlife ecology, habitat management, population dynamics and carrying capacity. You will learn about conducting wildlife censuses and the various techniques used in wildlife management.
Additionally, the module delves into the legal and administrative aspects of wildlife management and culminates with a case study research project, providing a comprehensive understanding of the field essential for anyone working with or caring for wildlife.
Module 5: Animal Diseases
Gain an increased knowledge and understanding of diseases that can affect the health of pets and other animals. You will learn how to examine sick animals and understand how diagnostic procedures are applied for determining diseases, including identifying common animal poisonings. You will learn about the warning signs associated with different diseases and have a better capacity to make decisions about caring for sick animals and knowing when to seek advice from a skilled veterinarian.
Module 6: Zoo Keeping
In this zoology course, you'll receive a thorough and comprehensive introduction to working with animals in captivity, such as in zoos, safari parks, or wildlife sanctuaries. You will gain the knowledge and skills you need to start your career in captive animal management. Learn from current zoology experts about the zookeeping industry, from the basics of how a zoo operates and enclosure design to more detailed aspects like reproduction, animal health, and behavior within captive husbandry. This course prepares you to make informed, ethical decisions in the management of captive animals and contributes to the overarching goals of conservation and animal welfare.
Module 7: Animal Behaviour

This knowledge is crucial for anyone looking to enhance their ability to care for animals and respond appropriately to their behavioural needs.
You’ll be fully supported with access to an allocated student support advisor, mentor and course consultants, who are available 5 days per week.
Assessments are an important part of your study journey as they help ensure you stay on track and meet the learning objectives of each lesson before moving on to the next. They also help your student support advisor and mentors identify where any further support may be required so that you get the most out of your course. You will learn via various methods; a combination of reading, undertaking research and watching videos. Assessments might include case studies, quizzes, and written assessments.
Upon completing the course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for each certificate completed and a Certificate of Completion.
There are no prerequisites to complete this course. However, you must be able to read, analyse and comprehend, printed information in English, and to write statements and solve problems to complete the course. You must also have reliable access to a computer and a reliable internet connection and have basic computer skills.
