Module 1: Life Coaching
In this introduction to Life Coaching, you will learn how important self-awareness and self-discovery are to establish a successful career as a Life Coach. When you can understand why we do the things we do, you will then be better placed to help others identify and achieve their goals, both personally and professionally. Discover the process and skills required to be a Coach and learn how these can be transferred over into your own life too. You will also develop contacts and build networks within the industry, setting you up for success in your chosen field in the real world.
Module 2: Health and Wellbeing
Health and wellbeing is the result of a combination of physical, social, intellectual and emotional factors that help meet the demands of living. Every aspect of our lives affects health and wellbeing. In this course, you will receive a broad and comprehensive introduction to your own health and wellbeing so you can improve your life and help others do the same. From fitness, nutrition, stress management, preventative health and basic first aid, this course is designed to give you a solid foundation which can be used in both your personal and professional life.
Module 3: Managing Mental Health in Adults
This module is designed with the aim to help you understand the signs, symptoms and possible treatments of adult mental health problems. From depression, to anxiety and schizophrenia, to eating disorders, OCD and phobias, you will learn about the most common mental health disorders and how they impact a person’s life.
Mental health professionals work with their patients and mental health sufferers, to help themselves. Throughout this module, you will learn practical techniques and strategies which can help people suffering from a mental health disorder control and alleviate severe symptoms.
Module 4: Food Coaching
This module is designed to equip you with an understanding of the principles behind a healthy diet and the professional standards for food coaching. It delves into various specialist diets tailored for chronic conditions, overeating, and poor nutritional choices, providing insights into how food choices impact health. It also explores the nuances of food coaching across different age groups, including adults, seniors and children.
Furthermore, it emphasises your learning and understanding of the importance of lifestyle changes in achieving dietary goals and guides you through the process of moving on to a healthier lifestyle. It concludes with practical aspects of managing your food coaching service, ensuring you have the skills and knowledge to support others in making informed, health-positive food choices.
Module 5: Psychology and Counselling
The Psychology and Counselling module is designed to deepen your understanding of various psychological aspects and counselling techniques. It covers the nature of stress, abnormal and individual behaviours and how these manifest in both personal and group dynamics. You will gain insights into the methods of dealing with abnormalities, offering strategies for effective mental health management.
This module also focuses on developing skills for conflict resolution and enhancing interpersonal communication. These components are crucial for understanding and navigating complex behavioural patterns and they equip you with practical tools for supporting individuals dealing with mental health issues, fostering a better understanding and approach to psychology and counselling.
Module 6: Health and Fitness I
This module offers an insightful journey into the realm of health and fitness. It starts with an introduction to the fundamentals of health and fitness, followed by a deep dive into exercise physiology and the principles of cardiorespiratory programming. It also explores biomechanics and risk management, crucial for designing safe and effective fitness programs. Lastly, it includes practical aspects of delivering a fitness program, with a focus on safety, injury prevention and general wellbeing.
Module 7: Counselling Skills I
This module is designed to give you an introduction into the role of a counsellor and how a counsellor facilitates a person’s resolution of issues, whilst respecting their values, personal resources, culture and capacity for choice. You will learn techniques to provide insight into a client’s feelings and behaviour to help the client adjust and change their behaviour if necessary. From the basic foundations, such as improving your listening and communication skills, to discovering ways to articulate and comment on a client’s issue from a professional perspective, this course covers a wide spectrum of counselling, which can be beneficial for many careers, for example, a nurse, youth leader, personal trainer or teacher.
You’ll be fully supported with access to an allocated student support advisor, mentor and course consultants, who are available 5 days per week.
Assessments are an important part of your study journey as they help ensure you stay on track and meet the learning objectives of each lesson before moving on to the next. They also help your student support advisor and mentors identify where any further support may be required so that you get the most out of your course. You will learn via various methods; a combination of reading, undertaking research and watching videos. Assessments might include case studies, quizzes, and written assessments.
Upon completing the course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for each certificate completed and a Certificate of Completion.
There are no prerequisites to complete this course. However, you must be able to read, analyse and comprehend, printed information in English, and to write statements and solve problems to complete the course. You must also have reliable access to a computer and a reliable internet connection and have basic computer skills.
