We’ve been told to use our time wisely, but sometimes the drive just isn’t there. Yes, we totally understand. However, life goes on and our tasks are piling up. So we need to find solutions.
To give all of us some motivation, we’ve come up with a list of the noteworthy habits of highly productive people. Hopefully, this can help you better manage your time, meet your deadlines, work or study smarter, and accomplish more over time.
Just before we get started, if you are an “Active Pinner” and want to keep these tips handy, make sure you save the Pinterest graphic we’ve created below to one of your boards for safe keeping. 🙂

Ready to pump up your productivity levels? Make sure to take note of the following habits and try to apply them as well.
1. They dedicate time for planning.
You can’t survive a battle without a game plan. That’s why productive people, like most event organisers, set aside at least 10-15 minutes per day, whether in the morning or the night before, to make a to-do list. This way, you’ll be able to have a guide on what to prioritise, properly manage your time, and avoid forgetting something you’re supposed to accomplish.

2. They allot some allowance for schedule adjustments.
Yes, it’s imperative for productive people to follow their to-do list and timeline but when something has to be changed, they’re flexible enough to adjust accordingly. They do this by also allotting “allowance” for adjustments. They don’t do tasks one hour before the deadline. They schedule them in advance.
3. They multitask at the right time.
Some people consider multitasking as a sign of inefficiency or even a cause of low-quality outputs since you work on multiple things at the same time. However, productive people understand that it works in the right circumstance (i.e. listening to a business-related podcast while driving to work).
Likewise, they know when “not” to multitask and when it’s considered a distraction (i.e. checking your Instagram feed every 5 minutes while studying for an IT-related exam or while in a meeting).
4. They use time management tools that suit their lifestyle.
It doesn’t matter if you use a pen and paper, a scheduling app, your phone calendar, or even a wall calendar. As long as it works for you, it’s all that matters.
5. They don’t procrastinate.
Productive people do not delay especially when the task requires less than five minutes to finish. They value time, so when they can do it right away, they’ll deliver.
6. They strategically take breaks.
Working 24/7 doesn’t define productivity. In fact, this can be counter-intuitive since your body and mind need to rest to recharge, and increase your focus. According to Study Expert Jess Holsman, taking five to ten-minute breaks after 25-30 minutes of reading or working, can actually bring back your drive, and increase your efficiency and focus. So go ahead and eat, drink water, walk, relax your mind or just rest for a few minutes.

7. They always aim for excellence.
Productive people make sure that whatever they do is of top caliber. They do this to avoid further revisions and remakes which can also take up their time.
8. They know when and how to delegate tasks.
You can’t own it all. Sometimes, you also have to delegate tasks to people who have the appropriate skill-set to successfully complete them on time. Productive leaders and effective managers know this so well. At the same time, they courteously say “please” when asking a favour, not in a demanding way.
9. They’re not afraid to follow up.
Don’t wait until you’re close to the deadline before following up on a team member, whether it’s for work purposes, school or private events. But again, make sure to follow up courteously.
10. They celebrate what’s been done.
Highly productive people know how to motivate themselves, and one of the ways they do it is by celebrating what’s been done instead of stressing over what to work for next. Don’t hesitate to grab a cup of ice cream for a job well done today. Give yourself a gift, whether it’s enrolling in an online course or a new watch. You deserve it.
